When is it Time to Give Up on Yourself?

Date Published

The image portrays two abstract human-like figures rendered in a dynamic, painterly style with swirling strokes of warm and dark colors. The figure on the right is glowing in shades of gold and orange, reaching upward toward a radiant light source, exuding a sense of hope, ascent, or enlightenment. Its extended arm seems to beckon or pull the other figure, which is darker—almost shadowy—and partially engulfed by trailing red and orange flame-like textures. The scene creates a dramatic contrast between light and darkness, suggesting powerful symbolism: the struggle between despair and hope, the act of being uplifted, or the transformative journey from darkness into light.

I often struggled in the past with starting something up and then actually finishing it, however as I found out this was only the tip of the iceberg of my problems.

I didn't knew when to give up, what is more I didn't knew how to give up and if to ever give up on any subject. I learned that I should give up with grace without destroying other people and with acknowledging the failure as a data point in my life-long experiment.

But after I gotten to the "how" I still didn't knew "when". When to give up on a project? What is the best time? Should I ever give up? I found out that behind every project or initiative I created there was a burning desire inside of me, and the burning desire propelled me forward and was the ultimate seed for any growth.

Many people give up too early, just a few centimeters from success, for runners it is called being "bonked". I found out then that the best way to do not give up early but give up reasonably is to first cultivate our creative desire and only if our innate drive and desire fades we can consider quitting, but remember, it is good to have a habit of finishing things you've started because given I have a desire there will be many moments in which I won't have the grit and when we encounter failure the desire can seem like it is vanishing, but actually it is not, it is strengthening through suffering that will make it your mission.
